Step: 1
Unboxing
The first thing you will see when unboxing your starter kit is a Wiliot Coffee Cup, with 3 IoT Pixels attached. The Wiliot IoT Pixels contain aluminum and are not waterproof, therefore please do not microwave your coffee cup or put it in the dishwasher, hand-wash only.
To the right of your Wiliot Coffee Cup is the Quick Start Guide, pointing you to the Wiliot Getting Started page.
Beneath the Quick Start Guide are 8 Wiliot IoT Pixels on cardboard samples. The cardboard samples are designed to stand vertically, facing the corresponding bridge device, much like a picture frame.
Underneath the Wiliot Pixels, you will find the Works with Wiliot Bridges and Bridge Stand. These devices are used to energize your IoT Pixels. The Bridge Stand is used to orient the Dual-Band Bridge vertically so that it faces the IoT Pixels on cardboard samples.
At the very bottom of your Starter Kit you will find the Bridges' Power Cable and AC Plug.
Bring-Up: Coffee Cup
First, stand up the Dual-Band Bridge using the Bridge Stand, and plug in using the included power cable and plug.
In parallel, place your Coffee Cup close to your Dual-Band Bridge (< 1 meter), with the Bridge "facing" the cup. We start close to the bridge so there is more energy for harvesting, resulting in a faster time to receive the first data packet. For optimal performance, the IoT Pixel on top of the Coffee Cup should be right side up towards the bridge.
Next, download the Wiliot App and log in using your Wiliot credentials. The Wiliot App can be found on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
Once logged in, the IoT Pixels on your Wiliot Coffee Cup should then appear in your Wiliot App in less than 30 seconds. Once it appears, feel free to push the Coffee Cup further away towards the edge of its harvesting range and start experimenting.
Within the Wiliot App, users can observe the data coming from their Wiliot Coffee Cup such as temperature. Soon, users will also be able to access the Wiliot Automation Platform to start running their own playbooks and setting business rules.
Step 2:
Bring-Up: Wiliot IoT Pixels on Cardboard Samples
First, place the cardboard samples vertically, "face to face" with your bridge device.
Wiliot IoT Pixels are optimized for corrugated materials and plastics, so we have put your IoT Pixels on a cardboard sample. More information regarding how materials affect IoT Pixel performance can be found on the Material Performance page.
The orientation and positioning of Wiliot’s IoT Pixels also have an impact on its energy harvesting performance. Wiliot’s IoT Pixels are linearly polarized, making them optimized for harvesting in a single linear direction with more range. Visit the Orientation Guide for more information.
Similar to the steps taken when setting up the coffee cup, users will open the Wiliot App to verify that the IoT Pixels are appearing. Once confirmed, users can push the IoT Pixels farther away from the Bridge device and begin to experiment, observing the IoT Pixel data within the Wiliot App.
Step 3:
Now that you have seen the technology in action, you may be getting an idea as to just how powerful this technology can be. The following steps are intended to help you understand the Wiliot Technology ecosystem, how to consume and use data via applications and provide you the resources to explore the technology further.
First, if you have not done so complete Wiliot 101 Training-this on demand webinar explains the Wiliot Technology and how the tags harvest energy, and transmit data. Next use your Wiliot login to explore our Technical Resources, it provides a series of guides, tutorials, radio concepts and detailed information about our Pixels and Works With Wiliot Bridges and Gateways.
Once you have familiarized yourself with the technology further, you can use your Login ID to access your account on the Wiliot Platform . The Platform is how our partners and customers control their data and tell the Wiliot cloud where and what the portal should send to an end point of your choosing.

Note* Your starter kit does not come with a Gateway, your phone is able to send data to the cloud but does not provide access to all the configurations found in a dedicated Gateway. Kits with gateways are available for purchase through a Wiliot representative.
